Faraday Future FF91, 2018. Faraday Future has revealed a pre-production version of the FF91 luxury electric vehicle, in a video posted to YouTube. With order books now open, Faraday Future plan for initial deliveries to be made during the first half of 2019.
Virtual Eye Pod, 2018. As part of their on-going research into self-driving vehicles Jaguar Land Rover are employing self-driving pods that have large ‘virtual eyes’ to interact with other road users. The intelligent pods run autonomously on a fabricated street scene in Coventry, while the behaviour of pedestrians is analysed as they wait to cross the road. Research suggests that 63% of pedestrians worry about how safe it is to cross the road with the advent of autonomous vehicles. The ‘eye pods’ have been designed to help work out how much information self-driving cars should share with users or pedestrians to ensure that people trust the technology.
LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, 2018. LEGO Technic have created a non-glued, fully-functional and self-propelled LEGO Technic life-size model Chiron that can fit two passengers inside and accelerate to over 20km/h. The model is the first large scale movable construction developed using over 1,000,000 LEGO Technic elements and powered using motors from the LEGO Power Function platform. Fitted with 2,304 motors and 4,032 LEGO Technic gear wheels, the engine of this 1.5 tonnes car generates 5.3hp
