Skyline Route to the Sea by Metro Library and Archive

Via Flickr:

This map is fom a brief description, circa 1960, of two alternate proposed routes for the “SkyLine Route to the Sea”, a monorail from Los Angeles to Long Beach. Of the two proposed routes, Route A would have followed the Pacific Electric Railway right of way south from the Santa Monica Freeway to Carson Street, then it would follow the east bank of the Los Angeles River to Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach. Route B would have extended south from the Santa Monica Freeway along Santa Fe Avenue to Vernon Avenue, then would curve into Pacific Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard, finally reaching a terminus at Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach. The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority proposed the SkyLine Route at the Fifth Rapid Transit Study Conference, held at the Harbor Commission Building at the Port of Long Beach.
